On 21 April, the Frankivskyi district court in Lviv will consider a criminal case regarding the possible embezzlement of budget funds during the renovation of the Start children’s camp.
The date and details of the meeting were announced by Andriy Petryshyn. According to him, we are talking about funds in the amount of about UAH 4m.
According to the investigation materials, the scheme could have involved officials of the education system, who worked during the period when Andriy Sadov was in charge of the city.
Among the defendants:
- Andrei Sorokovsky – former head of the district education department
- Yuri Toporovich
- Orest Pokitko
- Igor Chura
According to the law enforcers’ version, the organisers of the scheme acted through a controlled contractor, inflating the cost of works and drawing up fictitious documents. Some of the works were not actually performed.
The Prosecutor’s Office also points to attempts to legalise part of the funds through financial transactions.
Andrei Petryshyn noted that he filed a petition for online broadcasting of the trial to ensure maximum publicity of the process.
However, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
